Northcliffe is a town located in the lower South West region of Western Australia, about 28 kilometres south of the town of Pemberton.
This work, called Rising From the Ashes, commemorates the biggest bushfire in recent WA history. The February 2015 Northcliffe bushfires swept through around 100,000 hectares destroying and damaging habitats, farms, forests, and plantations, and causing significant property loss.
Very cool art installations at the understory exhibition. Southern Forest Arts is an award winning ‘not for profit’ cultural organisation based in the small Western Australian town of Northcliffe. See if you can find all the faces carved into the burnt wood, this represents the lost souls from the fire that hit the region, called rising from the ashes by Kim Perrier. If your in the region go check it out. http://www.understory.com.au/art.php
